The whole city turns out at roughly the same hour, and the view across the channel to Ugljan is what they are walking towards. Alfred Hitchcock called the sunset here the finest in the world, a line the tourist board has never once let go of.

At the far end it delivers you to the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun, which is why the crowd thickens as the light drops. Benches, pines and cafe terraces line the length of it, no ticket is involved, and the walk takes about fifteen minutes if nobody stops you.
