Zadar Guest houses
Guest Houses and Rooms
The guest house sits between the hostel and the hotel: a family house with several letting rooms, usually breakfast, and an owner on the premises who knows the bus times and the fish market. It is the older Croatian way of taking in visitors, from the days when rooms were let by the sign on the gate, and it still accounts for a large part of the beds in this city.
What you get is a private room, sometimes a shared kitchen, and a level of local advice no reception desk matches. What you give up is the anonymity of a hotel and, usually, a lift. Addresses spread across the peninsula, Varos and the residential streets on the mainland side, with the ones out towards Borik and Diklo offering parking that the Old Town cannot. Prices sit well below a hotel room of the same size, particularly outside July and August.
