Hotel Bastion occupies a corner of the historic fortifications at Trg tri bunara, the Three Wells Square, which puts guests inside the pedestrian peninsula rather than looking at it from across the harbour. Breakfast is included, the in-house restaurant trades as Kastel, and there is a wellness area named Castello.

The hotel also handles meetings and events, and publishes its information in English, Croatian, Italian, German and French. For a first visit to Zadar the location does most of the work: the forum, St Donatus and the Sea Organ are all a few minutes on foot, and the car stays outside the walls where it belongs.
