Zadar Marinas
Marinas and Berths
Sailing is a serious business on this stretch of coast, and Zadar sits at the head of it. Berths inside the city put a boat within walking distance of the Old Town, which suits a crew changing over or a night ashore, while the huge marina at Sukosan a few kilometres south east handles the charter fleets, the winter storage and the heavy repair work. Between them they make this the natural start or end point of a week in the Kornati.
What a marina desk sells is not just a mooring: water and power on the pontoon, fuel, a laundry, a chandlery and, at the larger ones, a lift for work below the waterline. Book a summer berth ahead, particularly for a Saturday, when the charter turnover fills the pontoons. The bura, the dry north easterly that funnels down these channels, decides plenty of sailing plans in spring and autumn.
