A guided walk here is a short one. The peninsula is about six hundred metres across, so the value is not in covering ground but in having someone explain why a ninth century church is standing on Roman column drums, what the Venetians were defending against, and which of the four occupying powers left which wall. Most walks start near the Land Gate or the forum and run an hour and a half to two hours.

Beyond the walking tour the range widens: food and wine walks that stop at the market and a konoba, evening walks timed to end at the Sea Organ for the sunset, and full-day coach trips inland to the waterfalls at Krka or the lakes at Plitvice. Guides work in English and German as standard, with Italian common and other languages arranged in advance. Book a day ahead in season; walk-up places exist but the good guides fill.
