Sixt Rent a Car Zadar Airport

Collection is at the Sixt counter inside the Zadar Airport terminal at Zemunik, roughly nine kilometres from the city centre. You walk from the arrivals hall to the desk, complete the paperwork there and pick the car up in the airport car park, so no transfer into Zadar is needed first.

The Zadar Airport fleet follows the standard international range: small hatchbacks for couples, compact and mid-size saloons, estates for extra luggage, and people carriers or vans for larger groups. Automatic cars are available but form a smaller share of the fleet than manuals.

Cross-border travel into Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and other neighbouring countries is possible, but it must be declared when booking rather than mentioned at the desk. The rental is then issued with the green card and documentation the border requires, and a cross-border fee normally applies.

It suits anyone driving straight out to Nin, Paklenica, Plitvice or down the coast, because the airport sits inland and on the road network rather than behind the pedestrian peninsula. Visitors spending their first days inside Zadar Old Town often prefer a city office instead, since the peninsula is closed to traffic.

Booking ahead is strongly advisable between June and September, when the flight schedule into Zemunik fills and airport fleets sell out. Automatic cars and larger vans are the first categories to go, so those are worth reserving several weeks out rather than on arrival.
