The old core is small, a harbour with a few konobas and a church, and the shoreline either side is pine-backed pebble and rock with coves that stay usable even in August. Accommodation is a mix of apartments in the village and the larger Punta Skala resort on the headland, which carries several hotels, a spa and its own beaches.
The village is better known beyond Croatia for its summer festivals, which have used the beach setting at the headland for years and bring a very different crowd for a few weeks. Outside those dates it is quiet. Zadar is twelve kilometres south east, about twenty minutes by car, and the airport is roughly half an hour inland, so a car makes the stay considerably easier than the bus does.
