Zadar Ferries
Ferries to the Zadar Islands
The single most useful thing to know about ferries here is where they leave from. The port moved to Gazenica, about three kilometres south east of the peninsula, so the car ferries, international sailings and cruise calls all use that terminal; the quay along the Riva takes small excursion boats only. Allow half an hour to reach it, and more with a car in August.
The crossings themselves are cheap public transport rather than excursions. The state carrier runs car ferries and passenger boats to Ugljan, Pasman, Dugi otok and the smaller islands, with Ugljan about twenty minutes away as a foot passenger. Timetables change between summer and winter, cars need queueing time at the ramp, and a strong bura can cancel a sailing outright.
